Protect Your Purchase With A Back Up Plan

Bought something big? Back Up Plan helps take the stress out of unexpected product issues by providing extra protection after the manufacturer’s warranty ends.

If your product breaks down due to a mechanical or electrical fault, Back Up Plan helps manage the repair or replacement process, with clear terms and a range of added benefits.

Why consider a Back Up Plan?

Back Up Plan offers convenience and support not typically available under the standard manufacturer’s warranty or Australian Consumer Law, including:

  • Certainty around the period of cover

  • Access to technical and claims support

  • Fast repair timeframes with service guarantees

  • Loan products if repairs take longer than 10 business days

  • Technical support over the phone during business hours

Depending on your plan and product, you may also be eligible for:

  • Up to $200 reimbursement for food spoilage (fridges and freezers)

  • Up to $200 for laundry costs (washing machines and dryers)

  • Movie vouchers during extended TV repairs

  • Worldwide cover on eligible portable items like cameras, tablets and laptops

Package Options at a Glance

There are two main types of cover under Back Up Plan:

Repair Cover Plans

For most products over $500

  • Covers repair or, in some cases, replacement

  • Starts after the manufacturer's warranty ends

  • Common plan durations include:

1+4: 1-year manufacturer’s warranty + 4 years Back Up Plan = 5 years total cover

2+3: 2-year manufacturer’s warranty + 3 years Back Up Plan = 5 years total cover

Replacement Cover Plans

For products $500 or less

  • Provides a one-time replacement, store credit or gift card

  • Cover begins 12 months after purchase, or after the manufacturer's warranty ends

  • Common plan durations include:

1+2RPL: Starts after 1-year warranty, covers 2 additional years

2+2RPL: Starts after 2-year warranty, covers 2 additional years

Ready to Make a Claim?

The easiest way to lodge a claim is through the Back Up Plan Self-Service Portal.

To submit a claim, you’ll need:

  • Your invoice number

  • Your last name (as it appears on your purchase receipt)

If your details are recognised, you’ll be able to complete the claim online in just a few steps. Once submitted, you’ll see a confirmation message and receive an email notification.
